Why The Healthy Elephants Was Born

The Healthy Elephants is a supplement brand founded by functional medicine practitioner Melissa Hsu, created from a deeply personal search for a clean and effective B-complex to support her father’s health. While studying supplements, working with clients, and navigating her father’s right-arm tremor, Melissa began looking for a formula she could trust. Every option she found fell short, some had acceptable forms but toxic fillers, others lacked ideal amounts, used suboptimal forms, or were simply incomplete.

A close friend, Andrea, who was passionate about clean beauty and non-toxic living, encouraged Melissa to create her own. This idea sparked the beginning of The Healthy Elephants. Determined to develop a B-complex she felt confident giving to her father, her clients, and herself, Melissa spent months researching and interviewing manufacturers. Out of twenty-two facilities, twenty-one failed to meet her standards or avoided her questions. Her commitment to integrity, transparency, and optimal formulation eventually led her to a partner she trusted one who shared her values and respected her meticulous approach. This partnership gave life to her first supplement, BALANCE.

Today, The Healthy Elephants offers two carefully developed products.

The second product, FOIE, is an organic Traditional Chinese Medicine–inspired herbal infusion created to support the liver and help manage stress, the effects of alcohol consumption, lack of sleep, excessive sugar intake, PMS, anger, toxin overload, and inflammation. It includes five unchlorinated sachets made from geo-authentic herbs, produced in small batches and hand packed.
